Discover the technical test data demonstrating the breathability, moisture management and tissue-care effectiveness of Air Piercing technology.
Compared with conventional piercings, whose structure is not designed to support air circulation, Air Piercing provides continuous airflow in three zones through its optimized hole architecture:

Airflow rates and distribution profiles were calculated via 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation applied to the jewelry geometry; boundary conditions and simulation parameters are detailed in the full technical report.
Engineered micro-channels limit moisture accumulation along the piercing channel, delivering superior evacuation performance across the jewelry-tissue interface:
The moisture-removal and evaporation rates were calculated using a numerical mass-diffusion model at different jewellery–tissue gap widths; the model assumptions and test conditions are provided in the technical report.
Enables care and cleansing solutions applied without removing the jewellery to pass through the microchannels and reach the contact surface inside the piercing channel uniformly:
Internal lumen filling and care solution dispersion through lateral micro-openings into the jewelry–tissue interface were calculated using a transient fluid dynamics model (under open circumferential and under-plate flow path conditions at t = 1.0 s).
The results apply to the specified simulation conditions. The calculation methods, boundary conditions and detailed comparative data are provided in the technical report.

The microclimatic performance of AIR Piercing™’s innovative, patent-pending channel architecture has been tested in multiple stages using fluid mechanics, vapour diffusion models and 3D numerical simulations. All modelling parameters and mass balances were independently audited and verified by a specialist in fluid dynamics and microclimatic transport processes, Meteorological Engineer Aslı İlhan (MSc).
1. Numerical Engineering Tests and Terminological Methodology
The first phase of the engineering study examined the microscale interaction between the jewellery geometry and human tissue across three physical disciplines:
The boundary conditions, equation stability and physical assumptions of the numerical flow models were independently reviewed by Meteorological Engineer Aslı İlhan (MSc), a specialist in fluid dynamics and micrometeorological transport processes.
In this second validation stage:
The temperature profiles, saturation gradients, diffusion coefficients and reference pressure differences for the external ear microclimate were rechecked using independent meteorological and physical equations.
Numerical mass-balance residuals (< 10⁻¹¹ relative error) were retested using independent algorithms. The consistency of the 1D hydraulic resistance models with the 3D FEM mesh solutions was confirmed.
The second set of calculations mathematically and physically confirmed that AIR Piercing’s patented body geometry meaningfully reduces excess relative humidity in the microgap compared with conventional solid piercing designs and continuously transports care fluid from the rear opening to the area surrounding the piercing hole.
